[01] The client

An immersive technology company with a niche product few people know how to find.

The client is a Las Vegas-based immersive technology company specialising in projection mapping, dome projection, AR/VR, and experiential brand activations. They design and execute large-scale immersive experiences for brand events, concerts, festivals, product launches, and permanent installations — transforming buildings, stages, domes, and objects into fully immersive visual environments. Their clients include internationally recognised brands, resort properties, and entertainment companies.

The challenge with a business like this is discoverability. Projection mapping and immersive technology are services very few buyers know to search for by name — and when they do search, they use a wide variety of terms. The site was already ranking, but not ranking well enough. At position 16.5 on average, the site was appearing at the bottom of page one and across page two — technically visible, but practically invisible to buyers who rarely scroll past the first few results.

The engagement ran for 12 months — August 2025 through July 2026 — before concluding as a completed project. The goal was clear: push rankings from the bottom of page one into the top five, build an informational content library that attracts buyers earlier in their journey, and establish the site as the authoritative source for projection mapping and immersive technology content.

Starting opportunities
1
Position 16.5 — bottom of page oneRankings existed but were too low to earn meaningful CTR. A 0.45% CTR with a 334K monthly impressions baseline meant thousands of searchers were seeing the site and not clicking.
2
Informational queries untappedHigh-volume terms like "IMAX 3D", "360 projector", and "how video games are made" had no dedicated content. Traffic from information-seeking buyers — who eventually become leads — was being lost to competitors.
3
Global audience, local visibilityProjection mapping and immersive tech buyers exist worldwide — brand agencies in London, event producers in Tokyo, marketing teams in Sydney. The site had no international content strategy to capture this demand.
4
AEO gap in a knowledge-heavy nicheTerms like "what is IMAX 3D," "how does projection mapping work," and "360 degree video" were generating millions of impressions but low CTR — a clear signal that better content structured for AI and featured snippet extraction could capture much more.

[02] The strategy

Three pillars for a visually creative niche.

Projection mapping and immersive technology attract both technical decision-makers and creative brand teams. The content strategy had to speak to both — while the on-page and AEO work pushed existing rankings deeper into page one.

Pillar 01 · Informational content
Capture buyers before they know what they need

Most buyers for immersive experiences start with general questions — "how does IMAX work?", "what is projection mapping?", "how are video games made?" Publishing authoritative answers to these questions puts the brand in front of future buyers at the earliest stage of their research journey.

  • Answer-first article structure for featured snippet capture
  • FAQ schema on every content page for AI extraction
  • Targeting high-volume discovery queries in entertainment and tech
  • Content portfolio spanning IMAX, 360 video, domes, animation
Pillar 02 · AEO & structured data
Structure content for AI engines and rich results

With millions of impressions but relatively low CTR on informational queries, the opportunity was in structured content — getting the site cited in AI Overviews and featured snippets for the "what is" and "how does" questions its audience was asking in volume.

  • Direct definition blocks on every informational article
  • FAQ, Article, and HowTo schema across the content library
  • Organisation and service schema on all core pages
  • Translated results optimisation — 1,129 clicks from global audiences
Pillar 03 · On-page & position push
Move from page two to the top of page one

The site already had rankings — the work was to improve them. Title tag rewrites, internal linking from new high-traffic content to service pages, and meta description optimisation all contributed to pushing average position from 16.5 to a best of 7.9 over the engagement period.

  • Title and meta description rewrites across all service pages
  • Internal linking from high-traffic blog posts to service pages
  • Core page content expansion with entity-rich copy
  • Projection mapping service page — 556 clicks, 118K impressions
The IMAX opportunity
1.75M impressions from one article

The IMAX 3D article became the site's single biggest impression driver — 1,753,414 impressions over 12 months. A single piece of well-structured educational content, answering a question millions of people search every month, drove more brand exposure than all the service pages combined.

The global reach unlock
Traffic from 8+ countries

US traffic led at 10,741 clicks, but India (1,748), UK (1,308), Canada (1,019), Australia (486), and France (389) all drove meaningful volumes. The informational content resonated globally — a projection mapping company based in Las Vegas generating leads from buyers worldwide.

The position story
16.5 → 7.9 in 7 months

Average position improved 8.6 places over the engagement — moving from the bottom of page one to the top. The best month was March 2026 at 7.9. That shift, on a site already generating over 300K monthly impressions, translated directly into more clicks at the same impression volume.

[07] What drove the results

Five lessons from a niche with global reach.

01
On-page work moves rankings faster than people expect

Position improved from 16.5 to 11.9 in the first month — before any new content published. Title tag rewrites, on-page signal alignment, and schema implementation immediately gave Google clearer relevance signals. Content compounded those gains over the following months. The first improvement is almost always technical, not editorial.

02
One article can generate 36% of your total impressions

The IMAX 3D article generated 1,753,414 impressions — 36% of the entire 12-month total from a single page. In a niche with technically complex topics that a mass audience is curious about, educational content that answers those questions well can outperform years of service page optimisation in raw visibility. One well-positioned article is not diminishing returns — it is leverage.

03
Informational content attracts global buyers

The US is the primary market for projection mapping services, but India, the UK, Canada, and Australia all drove over 400 clicks each — totalling more than 4,500 clicks from international audiences. Informational content around projection mapping, domes, and immersive tech resonates globally. SEO-driven brand exposure reaches buyers in markets where direct sales relationships don't yet exist.

04
December is a real seasonal opportunity for entertainment tech

December 2025 was the peak month — 2,565 clicks, with eight consecutive days above 100. Holiday-season searches around immersive experiences, event planning, and entertainment technology spiked sharply. For companies in live events, experiential marketing, and entertainment technology, building the content library before Q4 is timing work, not an afterthought. The compound grows fastest when the search market grows seasonally.

05
AEO unlocks multilingual traffic without multilingual content

Translated results — enabled by structured data and AEO content structuring — generated 1,129 clicks at 0.67% CTR, the highest CTR of any search appearance type. Google translated English content for audiences in other languages and served it as a rich result. For a Las Vegas-based company with global clients, this is brand reach the site did not have to build separately.

12mo
Completed projects leave permanent assets

This was a time-bound engagement — 12 months, then closed. But the rankings, the content library, the schema infrastructure, and the backlink profile all remain. The work done between August 2025 and July 2026 continues to generate clicks and impressions beyond the engagement window. SEO investment is not a subscription. It is infrastructure.
