Generative AI report
The GSC Generative AI Performance Analyzer processes exports from Google Search Console's Generative AI performance report to identify AI visibility leaders, declining pages, geographic patterns, device distribution and pages with strong overall Search visibility but comparatively limited generative-AI exposure.
Google's dedicated Generative AI performance report currently shows impressions from supported generative AI features in Search, including AI Overviews and AI Mode. You can analyze those impressions by page, country, device and date. The dedicated report does not currently expose generative-AI queries, clicks, CTR, average position or Google's source-selection logic.
Until 2026, site owners had very limited first-party segmentation for Google's generative search experiences.
Google now provides a dedicated Generative AI performance report for eligible Search Console properties.
This creates a much stronger measurement foundation than trying to infer AI visibility only from third-party trackers, screenshots or sudden CTR changes.
But the report still has important limitations.
It measures exposure—not citations, rankings or guaranteed visits.
Impressions generated when links from your site appear within supported AI Overview experiences.
Impressions from Google's conversational AI Mode search experience are included in the dedicated Generative AI Search report.
Google states that the dedicated Generative AI Search report is drawn from activity already included within the Web search type of the standard Search Performance report.
AI Overviews and AI Mode are part of Google Search. Their underlying Search activity is included within the broader Web Search performance dataset.
If you upload a normal Search Console page export alongside your Generative AI export, treat the standard export as an overall Web Search baseline. It should not be described as a perfectly isolated “traditional Search only” dataset unless Google provides an explicit non-AI filter.

That wording implies mutually exclusive datasets that the current standard Search export does not provide.
Open the Generative AI performance report in Search Console and export the page dimension with Page and Impressions.
Export Dates, Countries and Devices separately when you want trend, market or device analysis.
Optionally export standard Search Console page performance with Page, Clicks, Impressions, CTR and Position.
Use the same date period across AI and overall Search exports before making comparative conclusions.
Review Overview, Pages, Trend, Countries, Devices and the prioritized Action plan.
Use the report to identify questions and opportunities—not to invent causal explanations that the exported data cannot prove.

Google's dedicated report counts occasions when URLs from your site appear within supported generative AI features such as AI Overviews or AI Mode. It is a measure of visibility or exposure. It should not automatically be translated into a visit, citation, recommendation, ranking or endorsement.

The dedicated Generative AI report currently does not provide AI-specific click totals.
The report measures linked visibility, not the semantic role your page played in generating an answer.

A total impression number tells you how much visibility occurred during the selected period. The date export tells you when that visibility changed, helping you identify sustained growth, decline, volatility or possible step changes.
Multiple periods of rising AI impressions can justify investigating which pages or topics are gaining exposure.
A persistent decline can trigger checks for content changes, technical issues, demand shifts or evolving AI-result behavior.
Sharp movement should be investigated before being interpreted as a durable change in visibility.
If impressions change after a content update, migration or Google announcement, the timing is evidence worth investigating—not proof that the event caused the change.
Identify countries contributing the largest share of generative-AI impressions.
Find countries beginning to generate AI exposure where overall brand visibility may previously have been limited.
Compare AI visibility with business priority markets and broader Search demand before deciding whether a gap deserves action.
Review how much of your AI exposure originates from people searching on mobile devices.
Identify topics or audiences where desktop usage represents a larger portion of generative-AI visibility.
Smaller segments can still be analyzed without assuming a difference is strategically significant.
Avoid turning a device split into behavioral conclusions without supporting analytics or user research.
A page can perform strongly across Google Web Search yet receive comparatively little visibility inside supported generative-AI features. That gap can help prioritize pages for deeper review—but it is an opportunity signal, not proof that the page is badly optimized for AI.

A page moving from 2 AI impressions to 6 has grown 200%, but the underlying volume remains extremely small.
Prioritize both absolute volume and percentage change.
The analyzer lets you apply a minimum overall Search impression threshold when comparing page opportunities, reducing the chance that tiny pages dominate the opportunity list through unstable ratios.
Google states that a click on an external link inside AI Mode counts as a Search click, and standard impression rules apply. When someone asks a follow-up question in AI Mode, Google treats that follow-up as a new query for measurement purposes.
